Civil Protection is the most stink rank in the Combine's 'thought police' force of all urban areas on Earth. Its officers are named "Metro cops" while the term Metrocops is also used. The term "CPs" is most commonly used by citizens and resistance to refer to Metrocops. The Overwatch A.I. simply uses the term "protection team" or "protection teams".
Part of the Combine, CPs are ordinary human volunteers who have "willingly" joined the Combine either for better food and living conditions, or out of genuine sympathy for the Combine's aims.
Ranks
This all depends on which server you are on! Some servers have different regulations and systems in place.
-RCT Basically a citizen in a suit, they have NO authority at all. They are not allowed to leave the nexus unless told by a compass unit. They need to be trained before becoming an 05.
-05 The first rank of enlisted MPF. The 05 is issued a Stunstick and is able to patrol the streets without the authority of superiors.
-04 The first "rank" in the the MPF. They are issued a sidearm and are able to patrol the streets without the authority of superiors.
-03 A junior NCO in the MPF, they hold the authority similar to a corporal in the real world military.
-02 Similar to a sergeant in the pre-7 Hour War military, the 02 is allowed to command squads of 4-5 lower ranking MPF units. The 02 is also allowed to use the MP7 in the line of duty.
-01 The 01 is tasked of running the peacekeeping of the streets on a typical orderly day, and Is usally the highest rank seen on the streets unless a crisis of some sort is occuring.
-OfC The OfC is a prestigious rank held by those proven in the line of duty. They don a regular uniform, but with a black skirt added on. They are authorized to command all ranks below, and carry a Stunstick, 9mm Pistol, and Shotgun or MP7.
-DvL These people are leaders of that specific division. They boss 01s and below. (They boss 01s, 02s, 03s, 04s, and 05s.)
-SeC These people boss everyone. They aren't nice.
